We Stand Together Under One God

Again as I have listened to the song Let's Roll concerning the actions of Todd Beamer, I understood at the time of 911 people all over the world people came together to work together in a crisis. It didn't matter who they were, fire fighters, police officers, volunteers, or ministers. Other people raced to the twin towers to clean up the damage that was caused and helped each other out to clean up the aftermath of 911. They were united under one cause working together in unity.

The world was grieving together for their loss, but especially Americans. People lost their lives that day, because of a religious and political war. It stands as a monument to the American people, and people all over the world, that war of any kind damages us as human beings. Even after this catastrophe, and after all the other ones that occur in current times, we never get the message that war and destruction is not the answer in our daily lives with each other, or other religions, other faiths, or other countries.

In the history of man kind there has been more war, and destruction yet, we continuously choose it to resolve our conflicts in relationships over the globe with Government Leaders, Religious Leaders, and just our general relationships. I often wonder how many people have to die and will die because we can't learn to stand together side by side as brother's and sister's in this life working together just like everyone had in every crisis and and disaster like 911.

It always takes a tragedy before we are willing to come together to do what is right, and in those times we don't think about who is the atheist, the gay person, the leper, the liar, the back biter, we don't focus on the negative things in other people. We are so focused on doing what is right and helping each other out.

It didn't matter who was running down the street as smoke filled the sky, and the buildings collapsed. It didn't matter what you thought about another person. You understood that human life was at stake, and it was your brother's and sisters' in those towers.

We were angry at the terrorists, we were devastated as we watched the events as they unfolded. We have memorial services every year to commemorate their lives and the Hero's that took part in the recovery of 911, and even those that stood up for what the believed in like Todd Beamer. Todd Beamer didn't give up his life, and the rest of them so we could continuously live in war.

They didn't have a choice in the matter, no one asked them if they wanted to participate. They were there in the moment, and had to deal with what they had too. Their lives should be honored in away that we learn to live in peace with one another so further events like 911 don't have to continue all over the globe.

It is amazing that their are bombings all over the world because people feel that to make their point and for people to hear their voice that they have to take drastic measures to be heard. For political or religious views they think they have the right to kill people. There is something wrong with this picture. Why must innocent people die over personal agenda's and personal beliefs.

War results in war, and causes more conflicts, we are forced defend our countries because someone else wants to start a war for power, position and prestige. We start wars such as Vietnam under false pretenses. It was an amazing thing when I sat in International Relations Class and read CIA documents, government documentation, and films explaining to me that the Vietnam war was started for no other reason than to start a war.

Fortunately this had affected my whole life since my father had gone there, and never really been a part of my life due to the the aftermath of Vietnam. Thousands of soldiers died and their names engraved on the Wall and their lives were taken for the wrong reasons.

I seen more than I wanted to in my two classes fall term. Fortunately we miss the true meaning of the message of 911, and other disasters and events that occur all over the world in schools like Columbia, and Bombings on the street. The truth in the lesson of all these disasters would be to learn to stand together to work to rebuild our world and clean up the damage we have caused in our families, countries, cultures, communities, and governments. We should be learning out of all this to communicate with each other in a more peaceful manner, and listen to the other side, and do what needs to be done to resolve conflicts without death.

It is horrible to say that even when Humanitarians in Darfur Sudan and peace efforts tried to help those in trouble, they were even stopped, or killed trying to help those in crisis. It is shocking to understand that this world continuously lives in the idea that war is right.

People like Todd Beamer did not sacrifice his life, or Vietnam vets to stand for war to continuously be the answer. These were all hero's as they gave up their lives for our freedom and our protection. Yet we dishonor them by continuously living in war with each other whether we are religious, or non-religious, whether we are Americans or another country, Whether we are father's or mother's, children, or whether we are teacher's or students. We are teaching the next generations how to live and communicate. What are we teaching our children?

They are our legacy the next generation. They are our future, and who will teach them what is right if we don't ourselves. How much more destruction should there be in our future, because we want to be the dominate one, or we want to control someone else. Is it more important to be the power elite, have mass destructive weapons to destroy humanity? Is it more important to kill our brother's and sister's in life because of Religious views? Is it more important to tear down another pastor, or church to fit our own pride and ego? Do we always have to be the right one?

We should stand together united together and work in harmony and unity, sending out the same message of unconditional love, and peace across every nation. We should work together the same way we did in 911 picking up the aftermath, not judging one another. We should work together in the world's crisis of damaged families by divorce, abuse, addiction, and start rebuilding our world on the foundation of God's unconditional love. I don't know whose God decides that war is the answer, but it surely was never mine. It was man that makes all these decisions to bomb, divorce, argue, kill, and murder. God didn't create the mess we live in, we did, and until we figure out how to live in peace and resolve conflict in a more peaceful manner we will continue to live the way we have for centuries.

At some point in time there will be a generation that stands up for what is right!
