I AM A BUTTERFLY

I am nothing in your eyes,

but everything in someone else's eyes.

I am ugly in your thoughts,

beautiful in another,

doesn't it come right down

to what you percieve about who I am?

Am I responsible for your feelings

or emotions?

Am I responsible for what you

choose to create about me?

I am who I am,

and although I may change,

you will still feel the need to change

me to fall into how you would like to define me.

It's sad to say because I could change into

a perfect beautiful butterfly,

yet you would try to pick me up by the wings

clipping my wings and beauty

with your careless touch,

words, or movements.

How delicate and fragile I may be,

to you as a butterfly I may be weak,

but even though you try to cripple me,

I will heal producing new viable wings.

I will fly away from the harm you cause,

acknowledging that you have hurt me,

at the same time realizing it was never

my fault that someone injured you

in the same way.

I will fly away gaining strength inside of me,

knowing you can never damage my soul.

I will fly away into a new world

where love is the priority,

where healing is pleasurable

releasing me of all inhibited

negative beliefs.

I am a butterfly,

although you may clip my wings,

you will never steal the spirit that lives

within my nice covered body.

I am a butterfly you can not trap me

in a jar long enough,

someone will come along

unscrew the cap

and set me free.

I am a butterfly meant to stay in motion

flying through the soft breeze that carries me.

I travel far and wide on my journey.

Your negative world no longer captivates me.
