Gray Whales

47

By HattieMattieMae

Rising from the depths of the sea,

propelling one self high into the air,

diving back in the ocean,

moving slowly with every fierce motion.

Flying through the waves at high speeds,

swerving around the open vast wilderness of the sea.

Free to just be.

A baby calf close by following it's mother's lead.

The mother whale using her senses trying to avoid

the path of the orca.

Orca's gathering together lining up as they hunt for the gray,

Killer whales on the rise navigating their way for the attack.

Whale's cries echo through the atmosphere as it feels the pain

of the wounded one.

35 tons of gray,

Thrashing and rolling over the mother the baby avoids danger,

following its instincts and inner compass surviving the brutal

attacks of another species.

Orca's stalking their prey,

searching encircling groups of gray's.

6000 miles of travel journeying to their destination.

Aware that danger is near,

diving fiercely,

protecting her young the cow protects her calf to the Orca's give up,

there is no room for any fear.
