Giving A Helping Hand To You're Neighbor In America
68
If you can be an earth angel, please do so. In America we have to learn to share our resources. We have collected so many materialistic things through our life time. Most of us have clothes we no longer use. We have some times boxes of kitchen utensils, or dishes, or every day things that we have in garage sale boxes in the garage or basement. Some one out there can use it.
Whether you are a hard worker or have a degree. It doesn't matter anymore. People feel they are enabling others at this point in time. This is not the case. There are just not enough jobs out there. If we leave it up to the government we will never get the help. People are struggling and trying to survive the best they can. It can happen to any of us any time. Any of us can lose a job, and end up going through our life savings. It only lasts so long and only gets you so far. I think most of us can say over and over again,"it won't happen to me." Even if you do everything right, there are just some things we can not control.
We can not control the amount of jobs available in our communities. We can not control what the government decides to do to help get those jobs in our community. Living in a healthy and rich area myself, I see that hunger is already becoming a problem. Being a wealthy community houses have been foreclosed, more and more families that were once middle class are becoming the lower class and finding themselves in poverty. Our community tries to help these people the best they can. It is the less wealthy communites that I cringe about, where they don't have the resources they need to help those in their community.
Where ever you are there is someone in need. So many children in poverty. They need clothes to wear, and shoes to wear. If you have baby clothes, toddler clothes on up, please donate them to the local clothing pantries. Our children grow out of things, and they are usually sitting around somewhere around our houses.
If you can afford to please donate toothpaste, shampoo, deodarant, cleaning supplies, paper towels, garbage bags. If you can help someone fix a car, or donate a tire please help them. If you can afford one gas card to help someone to find a job, or drive someone to a job service to find a job, please volunteer your time. There are so many things that we take for granted. We are so used to having nice things, and basic necessities.
We have spent money all our lives and getting into debt, thinking things would always remain the same. Times in America have changed. They say things are getting better, but are they actually getting worse. Will it be to late by the time the government decides to do something. It reminds me of Katrina. While we watched thousands of people in a disaster, and the government didn't respond right away. Often our government waits till the problem is so huge, and overwhelming. In a sense they are procrastinating on issues that need to be addressed in the moment. They are not being proactive, or trying to prevent our country from getting in further trouble. Talk is cheap, and action is what the American people need. How many promises have politician's made, yet never follow through with what they say. So why is it that we vote? Do we vote these people in just to get a nice pay check and bounce ideas around without producing any kind of positive action in all areas of our lives.
Are they even aware of the problems people are facing, and how hard it is to survive without no jobs. Do we ever imagine one of these senators, or congressmen ever having to live on the street, or going through the welfare system. Do they know what it's like at all to beg for your next meal, or have their children hungry in the woods?
Hopefully the next time we vote for our political leaders they wake up, and realise the problems American's are facing and the seriousness of it. It's not a joke anymore. It's not a game. People are in trouble, this country is in trouble. There is no denying it anymore.
People are relying on each other for help because they know the government doesn't hear them. They know they are doing nothing to get jobs in our communities. The public is not oblivious to the problems that our government creates allowing it's citizens to depend on a system that doesn't even work to get them out of the situation they are in. They get caught in the red tape, and welfare system. Not all of them want to live on the welfare system. They are doing everything they can to get out of it, and not all of them want to be in it. Some of them have gone to college, and had good jobs, and situationally in the poverty because of different circumstances. If the government doesn't produce jobs than how do the people survive, especially when they cut all the Human Service programs. It's even more insane when people are sent to the work first programs, and told they won't find jobs, and the government has cut the funding to help them get the job. This is the government program they are using to get people out of welfare.
At the same time cutting grants that non-profits count on to help support these people, and help them find jobs so they can be independent. If it's not the responsibility of the government, and non-profits can't help, these people end up in the woods, and surviving off the land. They have no other choice if there are no jobs available in their area. When people get away with saying they are enabling these people by helping out by giving food, they are actually not understanding that these people can't help themselves without the resources to get on their feet. Yes the old way there was people that lived off welfare, and abused the system. There will always be those people, while others are literally doing what they can to survive and get on their feet. It is harder work to be in poverty and homeless trying to jump through the hoops and hurdles. They are not lazy people, they are just unfortunate in the moment, and need someone to give them direction, teach them how to succeed, and give them a chance to make a better life for themselves to survive.
Homeless people have very good problem solving skills they usually have too to survive. When things break down they don't have the money to fix it, or go out buy something new. They do with what they have. They share their resources with others. They help each other out. They have to be creative in using what they have to make shelters, or get transportation. They look for things they can build with. They have to find someone to drive them places like job service programs, or get to agencies that can help them. Nothing comes free, and the scarey thing is if something doesn't change in our country there will be looters, riots, and people stealing from each other more and more every day.
As long as they wait and procrastinate about getting jobs in our country, the more crime rate wil go up, and the more violent our world will become because they will start fighting back because they are just trying to survive. It is pitiful if our government allows things to get that far. Hopefully they will start making positive changes sooner than later.
