Beautiful Diamond
58
A tribute to Marilynn Monroe
I sit in front of a mirror, looking back at my own reflection,
picking up a brush stroking the outline of my lips,
painting a mask up on my face.
Blond curls twirled, blowing gently in the soft wind,
I paint my lips red, enticing, luring,
as they bleed the words I speak.
Beautiful swirls i sweep across the surface of my delicate skin,
the powdery due falls upon my face, with pink blemishes giving the appearance of rosy cheeks.
Anxiety sets in behind my facade away from the public eye.
I hold it in deeply in the depth of my soul, because if they truly see, they will discover me.
I spray the scent of lavender and lilacs across my skin.
Slip on my diamonds around my neck and wrist,
making my appearance,
enticing men as they smell the fresh aroma as I walk by,
A famous Icon I am.
Dark nights while I try to fall asleep with depression setting in.
Day light appears and I shine brightly among the stars like diamonds, glistening as I am praised for my talent, and gifts.
Famous to many, a brilliant intro, but at what price must my soul endure for fame and fortune,
I surely will never let you in.
Spaghetti strapped sparkling dresses,
high heels, limousines, cameras flashing as the paparazzi follow my every move.
The glamorous charade I play across the screen as it flickers slide by slide of my life.
A path I have chosen to entertain, a gift I give you, as I dance across the stage, and smile blowing my last kiss towards you!
